Oktoberfest Day 2

After a fantastic day yesterday, we’ve got another busy day ahead of us with seven runners on the second day of the Oktoberfest. Firstly in the 1.50 which is the Visit at the Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle over 3m2f166y we have Jimmy. Jimmy finished well to win at Plumpton over this trip in February but failed to follow up the next time he ran. He always seems to jump well and stays well over the further trip so should hopefully like it today. Luca Morgan is riding him who has been riding out recently for us so thought he deserved to get the ride on Jimmy. Luca is Johnny Farrelly’s conditional jockey and he will claim 5lbs for owner Mr Les Gilbert. Then in the 2.25 we have Reallyradical in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Novices’ Handicap Chase over 2m3f104y. ‘Rad’ has been with us since the beginning of this year having been in Ireland starting his career point-to-pointing having a successful time coming second in his last two points. He came to us and ran well in his first two novices hurdles coming fourth and third (to Pentland Hills, the JCB Triumph Hurdle winner!!!!) but didn’t show much at Newbury the last time out over 3m. He has been schooling well at home and has been for a few trips to Lambourn for schooling so we’re looking forward to getting him over fences and hopefully he improves from it. Tom Cannon takes the ride for owner Mrs Betty Chantler. In the 3.00 we have stable star Highway One O One having his season start in the Marstons Handicap Hurdle over 2m3f49y. ‘Highway’ is having his prep run as we’d like to run him in the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November. Highway developed a very good Novice Chasing career last season winning twice and running some notable races in strong handicaps including winning a Graduation Chase at Carlisle and running well at Cheltenham a few times including a second to Kildisart in the Timeform Novices’ Handicap Chase on trails day. He is 4lb lower over hurdles and we are hoping for a good run in preparation for next month. Tom Cannon rides for owner Mr Anthony Ward-Thomas. The 4.05 which is the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 535 Novices’ Hurdle over 2m3f49y is a busy race for us as we have three runners in it; Shut The Box, Pres and Likeabatouthell. ‘Boxy’ is having his third run over hurdles here to today having built upon a promising hurdle debut when winning a Plumpton maiden hurdle in March. That form was quite well advertised by the clear second afterwards and this boy shaped as though he will suit today’s trip. We have done plenty of schooling and we’re looking forward to him running. Tom Cannon takes the ride for The Shut The Box Syndicate. Pres joined our yard earlier this year and has run twice over hurdles having already been placed in two Irish points last year. He slightly bettered his low-key hurdle debut when he was a respectable sixth in a good quality novice hurdle at Newbury in March. He is ridden by Leighton Aspell for The Pres Syndicate. Likeabatouthell is having his first run over hurdles having had only the one run in a bumper at Kempton in March where he was last of nine. We hope he will improve for a hurdle, he has certainly been jumping well at home and showing lots of ability, let’s hope he can prove it on a racetrack. He is ridden by Jamie Moore for owner Mr Dan Dennis. The 4.40 is the Visit at the Handicap Chase over 2m3f104y we have Hit The Highway. This boy has been with us since January 2018, not running too well in his first few starts for us, he then gained form coming third and second in his last two hurdle runs of the 2017/18 season. The last two times we’ve run this boy has been back over fences which he has never shown much form over but he came third both times jumping well on both occasions. He is back over fences today with Tom Cannon on board for Team ABC. Last but not least we have Baddesley in the 5.15 which is the Goodwin Racing Phone Betting 08000 421321 Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race over 2m1f162y. This boy is having his second ever run for us having come second in a bumper at Plumpton in April when he was clear of the others behind Strike The Flint. We think really highly of this boy as he has such a good attitude towards anything we throw at him and think he has a great future. Tom Cannon takes the ride for owners Mr Richard and Mrs Carol Cheshire. Good luck to all horses, jockeys and owners today 🏇🏻🏇🏻🏇🏻🏇🏻🏇🏻🏇🏻🏇🏻
