Welcome To The Blog

Hello and welcome to the inaugural post of the new Chris Gordon Racing Blog!

We’re aiming to put up a post once or twice a week, to keep you updated with the goings on in the yard, including looking back at how the horses have run and our immediate plans with them for the future.

The first exciting piece of news is that our flagship horse, Highway One O One, has been put up 2lbs for his superb run at Cheltenham Trials Day on Saturday. This means he will now run off a mark of 145, which guarantees him a spot in the Close Brothers Novices’ Handicap Chase on the Tuesday of the Cheltenham Festival.

Looking a bit closer to home we will have three runners later today at one of our favourite courses, Plumpton. Seaweed is in fantastic form at the moment and will make his first start over fences in the 2:30 Laine Source Novices’ Handicap Chase. We are optimistic for a big run from Seaweed for the members of the Chris Gordon Racing Club.

Before that, Shut The Box will run in the 2:00 Maiden Hurdle. It looks a competitive race but, Shut The Box was placed in all of his runs in Bumpers and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another great run.

Later on in the card, one of our stalwarts, Ballyheigue Bay runs in the 3:30 Laine Ripper Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle. He won the race last season and we’re hoping that going back to hurdles will rekindle the form that he was in then.

Our recent winner Sky Full Of Stars has come out of his race well and has been entered to run again next week. The aim is to keep the ball rolling before the handicapper gets hold of him but, it does mean he’ll have to race somewhere other than Fontwell!

Make sure to keep visiting this page for future posts and find out how our runners get on.

All the best.
